It's 1am... Oh... so... tired... almost... done... After completing the rest of your homework, you've got a monstrous project to finish that is due later that day as the clock rolls around midnight. You give it your best effort, call it good, and head straight for bed. This situation is undoubtedly very familiar to many teenagers. And then what do you do when you get to class the next day, you groggily plop down in your seat, and the assignment isn't due? Can you say, mixed emotions. "Yess..nnoo...huh? *Sigh.*
Needless to say, that's happened about 4 times within this past week, and I'm not quite sure what to think. Hey, my homework is already done! Simply tossing it to the side and heading to bed would have given me 48 more hours to work on it without the stress. It seems like procrastination is working for me, right? I should try this more often... But what happens when the due date isn't delayed. Suddenly, I'm in trouble.
So where does the happy medium lie? Should teachers never ever give extensions on due dates no matter what? Regardless of current stresses in the students' lives? That doesn't sound very merciful. But what if every due date was prolonged by some random amount? Then students would become accustomed to waiting longer and longer to begin and complete their assignments.
I've been thinking quite a bit why in the world I spend all this hard work on assignments to get them in on time, but it seems like work in vain when the due date is postponed. All those procrastinators getting benefits of their laziness... but wait. How could I work the system to my advantage? When I stay up late, the homework is decreased in quality and the time takes a chunk out of much needed sleep. So all this stuff about don't procrastinate is really helpful? In my situation, it sure seems like it! If I get everything done in advance, not only will I avoid staying up forever late, but I won't be as miffed when it isn't due. That was an interesting analysis that produced fruitful results. I think I'll go do homework! (Later...) =)

Haha, great topic. I'm trying to think of something intelligent to say in response. . . but I can't think right now. . .I'll come sooner or later though. . . *wink*
=D Hello. I'm not quite sure if I know who this is (I found it through a bunch of other blog comments...actually a fun pastime. =D) so, I hope you don't mind me reading a few or your blogs! I like this one a lot. I think that there's a fine line between showing mercy and being a pushover. Sometimes I think we teenagers forget to accept acts of mercy. Sometimes we honestly can't control a situation that prevents us from getting things done, and some very understanding teachers (ie Mr Rich and Mr Beveridge) are nice enough to give us a little leeway. I don't know, it's not like they should extend every single due date or anything like that, but sometimes I've just had to learn how to accept help like that. sigh That was a mouthfull! I hope I make sense! =D
Thanks for letting me read your blog!

oops....I just realized why it wasn't posting. =D
Hi. I thought it was you but I Wasn't sure. I usually wouldn't have time in my lovely jam-packed schedule, but I was at work. I telemarket (=P) so I was at a computer all night and I thought I'd try to do something productive!
